課程概述

長久以來哲學一直從形上學與知識論的觀點來探討關於「自我」、「知識」、與「自由意志」等議題。本課程將加進一個新的研究視角，就是討論腦神經科學如何影響我們對於這些傳統哲學議題的理解。本課程開放給研究生與大三、大四同學選修，修課同學不須具備相關背景知識。我們將探討下列議題：「自我」的形上學特性是什麼？大腦如何產生關於「自我」的表徵？對於「自由意志」的最佳解釋是什麼？腦神經科學如何說明我們關於外在世界的經驗知識？
 

課程目標
 本課程有三項目標：第一，能瞭解哲學與腦神經科學之互動的相關問題。第二，學習如何仔細閱讀哲學作品，並練習使寫作更為清晰。第三，對於一些重要議題能發展出自己的想法。
 
課程要求
 學生除了得花功夫研讀困難的哲學作品，在上課時參與討論，評估各種立場的論證，也需要在作業中提出自己的觀點，並加以辯護。
